The UK Border Agency (UKBA) ordered a Chinese takeaway with a difference on Wednesday night as they arrested the restaurants head chef. The raid by UKBA on the Mandarin Buffet in Octagon Way, Weston Favell on Wednesday afternoon resulted in four arrests on suspicion of being failed asylum seekers and illegal immigrants. Every member of staff was rounded up and asked to show their identification. Three Chinese men and one Indonesian man were found to be working without the correct paperwork. The 42-year-old head chef and a 37-year-old Indonesian man are understood to be failed asylum seekers, while a 25-year-old and a 24-year-old are both suspected illegal immigrants. All four men now face deportation, while the Mandarin faces a potential fine of up to £40,000, or £10,000 per illegal worker, unless it can prove the correct pre-employment checks were carried out.
Daventry Reveal Figures
Daventry District Council have become the latest authority to start publishing spending of over £500, a move which we welcome. I am sure that this year tax-payers in the authority will not want to see a repeat of the £1,137.50 spent last December on printing ‘chocolate calendars’.
This weekend is one of some activity, this evening in Bletchley is a meeting being held by Milton Keynes BNP with guest speaker Arthur Kemp. I know a number of local activists are going to that event. Unfortunately I shall not be there myself due to prior commitments. Saturday and Sunday will see leafleting kick off again in earnest for the new year, while on Sunday evening Northants BNP will be holding their first meeting of the year. So plenty there to get your teeth into.
