More Mysterious ‘Racist’ Graffiti in Wellingborough

It really concerns me when graffiti that appears in a predominately asian community is, for no apparent reason, described as having racist connotations. In this story which was on BBC Radio Northampton this morning, Former Mayor of Wellingborough, Shashi Dholakia and Northamptonshire Police, described how the letters PLM have been scrawled on properties on Newcomen Road and Vivian Road in the town, and that the Police are taking it very seriously. Mr Dholakia went one step further and said “It is targeted at the minority community – the words aim at the Indian, Bangladeshi and the Pakistani community”. What I have not manage to glean from the police, the radio or the reports I have read, is exactly what the initials PLM actually stands for. I have never heard of this acronym before if anyone has please enlighten me. From the investigations I have made I would have thought it is an acronym of the urban phrase ‘Peace, Love and Marijuana’.

Wellingborough is not a town known for racial tension, or conflict among the many and varied ethnic communities, barring an isolated incident a few years ago between the asian and black youth following a stabbing, so why, when no-one is able to say what these initials stand for, are they attempting to highten fear and tension within the minority communities?

    Paedophile Loving Muslims?

  2. Riddler says:

Could it mean People Love Money and I ain’t got none? I don’t like graffíté in any form. Set Batman on the case.

    • Batman says:

It is unlikely to be the Mayor of Towcester. Yes I am sure we can rule him out.
Too busy using South Northants vernacular and homilies for that sort of caper Riddler.

Wellingborough is not a town known for racial tension, or conflict among the many and varied ethnic communities, but everywhere has its breaking point. Maybe the policies of New Labour have pushed things that little bit too far, especially during these hard times?

I would be saddened but I would not be surpised if this sort of thing esculated to be honest. If Labour really wanted to ‘rub the rights noses in diversity’ surely they knew what would happen?

I talk as an average Joe saddened to see the loss of his country, but some people really have the bit between their teeth.

    • Stephen Osborne says:

It is not rubbing the rights noses in it! It is rubbing English noses in it. This ethnic cleansing of the English started way before new labour was thought of. It happened through successive governments for fifty or sixty years. However graffiti is an eyesore in any language.

  4. Richard says:

What a bizarre and irresponsible non-story! No sign of it on the Northants Police website. However, it does report several crimes (enrichers well represented) apparently overlooked by the BBC (surprise! surprise!).

  5. Roy Davies says:

As always it suits some people to see racism behind every bush.

  6. Gareth Jones says:

If somebody could explain why this graffiti is news now. This has been around for months and nobody has done anything about it.
