Stanton Cross Development Set To Start

Wellingborough Council reports that they have completed the Compulsory purchase of a piece of land that was holding up the Stanton Cross development to the east of the train station. The development will see the size of Wellingborough increase by one third.

One can only hope that the application to extend the time limit, which is due to expire in February, for work to begin on anothjer greenfield site, the Wellingborough North development between Redwell and Little Harrowden, is refused now that the town is going to be expanding at such an alarming rate at the expense of the loss of vast swathes of arable farmland.

Lets hope all the new houses on our precious arable land will be ready in time for the twenty nine million Bulgarians and Romanians will gain the right to live and work unrestricted in Britain in 2014 under European “freedom of movement” rules.

It wont be long before I relocate to the South West.

Apparently this development has been waiting in the wings for the last 15 years. God help the people living there. They will be right next to a landfill site and an animal rendering plant (ditchford!) At least it is land noone really cares about. But sidegate lane has to be the limit. To be honest id rather see Stanton Cross than further expansion of Rushden, which is being discussed. The countryside next to Rushden really is land people care about.
