Getting involved with your Community
The reason the left have managed to get such a strong grip in their local Communities and local politics is because they got involved. It is important we do the same. There are several ways to get involved with your community so people can see that you are just a normal person like they are.
Tenants and Residents Associations
If you live somewhere with a Tenants and Residents Association, the chances are you know of its existence and where they meet. For more information about TARA’s see the Tenants and Residents Associations of England website.
Neighbourhood Watch
Join your local neighbourhood Watch Scheme. If there isn’t one near you then why not set one up? Further details on finding and setting up a group can be found on the Neighbourhood Watch website, or contact your local Police station who will also help.
School Governors
Every school has a set of Governors, these are usually made up from parents, teachers, local councillors and people from the community. Obviously if you have children at the school you could apply as a parent, but you could apply as a member of the community. A list of Schools in the County can be found here, click on the school of your preference and among the information you will see another link for a current list of Governors and if there are any vacancies they will be listed.
Local/ Parish Councils
Some parish councils are very hotly contested, whereas others struggle to find councillors. Vacancies not filled by an election are usually filled by co-option. The best way to find out if there are any vacancies in your local parish is to find out where your Parish Council holds their meetings and go along. Search for your local Parish Council and find out more information. Some parishes now have their own websites where any vacancies may be advertised, so keep an eye on your Town/Village Council Noticeboard.

Bloody nightmare! Well what else can you say. Anyone who went to school in Northampton in the 1950′s has every right to be bitter with the outcome of this muli-cultural experiment. The last decade before the radical and uncalled for changes to demographics.
